Who we are

WE Consult IT Ltd (company number 11493923) runs this website, https://weconsultit.co.uk. We are the controller of the personal information described in this notice, which means we decide how and why it is used. Our company details are on the legal information page. To contact us about this notice or about your information, use our contact form.

In short

  • We collect what you send us through the contact form and some basic technical information when you visit.
  • We use it to reply to you, keep the website secure and run our business.
  • We aim to review and delete general enquiries after 12 months, unless they lead to us working together.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your information using our contact form.

The contact form

You do not have to contact us. If you use the form, we need your name, email address, enquiry type and message so that we can reply. Company name and telephone number are optional. Please do not include passwords or sensitive personal information, such as health details, in your message.

Your message reaches us by email. The email contains the details you entered and the date and time you sent it. If you choose Urgent Technical Issue, its subject line marks it as urgent.

The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a visitor is a person and not an automated program. When the form loads and when you send it, Cloudflare receives technical information about your browser and connection to make that decision.

To limit misuse, the website keeps short-lived technical records for a few minutes or up to an hour. These are a count of messages sent and of failed attempts, each labelled with a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address rather than the address itself; a scrambled code that stops the same message being sent twice; and, if a message could not be sent, what you typed, so that the form can show it to you again. They are deleted by the website’s routine clean-up. Routine website backups may contain them until those backups are replaced.

Visiting the website

Whenever you visit a website, the servers that deliver it handle technical information such as your IP address, the type of browser and device you use, the pages you ask for and the date and time. Our hosting provider does this for us under its own policies. We do not add analytics or tracking tools to this website.

Cookies

Our website’s own code does not set cookies. Our cookie consent tool stores one cookie, called cookieadmin_consent, to remember your choice so that it does not ask you again. It lasts 12 months and is set without asking because the tool needs it to work. Cookies that are not strictly necessary are set only if you agree.

The tool also keeps a record of each choice on our website: the date and time, your choice, your IP address with its last part removed, your country and your browser, so that we can show that we asked you. We keep these records for 12 months. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.

We do not rely on your consent to deal with an ordinary enquiry: you do not need to agree to anything first. You have the right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests; see “Your rights” below. We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Who we share it with

We use service providers to run the website and handle email: our website hosting provider, our email delivery and mailbox providers, and Cloudflare for Turnstile spam protection. For customer records we may also share information with our accountant and professional advisers where that is needed, and where the law requires it or it is needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Transfers outside the UK

Some of our providers, Cloudflare for example, operate internationally and may handle information outside the UK. If you want to know more about this, ask us through the contact form.

Keeping information secure

Information you send through the contact form travels to our website over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. The form has protections against spam and misuse. We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information, but no method of sending information over the internet is completely secure.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • be told how your information is used, which is the purpose of this notice
  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
  • ask us to delete your information
  • ask us to restrict how we use your information
  • object to us using your information where we rely on legitimate interests
  • ask for information you gave us to be provided in a portable form, where that right applies
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it

Some of these rights have conditions or exceptions, which we will explain if they affect your request. We reply within one month of receiving your request. If we need to check who you are, the month starts once we have what we need. If a request is complex or you have made several, we may extend that by up to two further months, and we will tell you if so.

How to make a request

Use our contact form, choose General Enquiry and say that you are making a data protection request. Tell us whether you want to see your information, have it corrected or have it deleted, or which other right you want to use. We will reply by email. To protect your information we may need to check who you are before we act. There is no charge, unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive. You do not have to use the form: if you make a request to us in another way, we will treat it as a request and deal with it.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first using our contact form. Choose General Enquiry and say that it is a data protection complaint, so that we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
